May 2011
Well it has certainly been a wet Spring, and for those of you that like the mud, you must be in "Hog Heaven"! It is sad that we have only been out on the trails one time so far this year, but hopefully that will soon change!
As I write this note I am also working on a 4x4 Open Show we are putting together to host here at Grace Baptist Church in July. We ware having a Community Cook-Out and are wanting to use the 4x4's to draw people to the property and have opportunity to share the good news of Christ with them!
If you would be interested in showing your rig July 16th please let us know. We will have dash plaques for the first 50 rigs and hope this will become an annual event
If you live in the southwest part of Indiana you probably know about Interlake and it is wonderful what is going on out there in the way of development!. It is AWESOME!
We are currently working on Membership, By-Law information for swi4x4him and if anyone has examples from other club and would like to share it that would great. We are hoping to have this info ready to use by the end of the year.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN YOUR GARAGE?
The Porter's 04 TJ is getting ready for a new set of gears this month. we are upgrading from the factory 3.73 to Yucon 4.88's We are keeping the Dana 30 in the front and the Dana 44 in the rear. We are hoping this helps out with the VERY poor gas mileage we have been getting since we went to the 35" BFG's!
Have a great month and we will be back in June with more info!

June 2011
Well plans for the Cruise In are coming along!
We have received "give away" items from Hi Lift Jack, Warn Winch Company, and are awaiting responses from Rancho and others.
As I write this note we have just gotten our TJ back from having new gears installed! The big issue is now no 4 wheeling for 1000 miles, but we will be ready to go to the Ranch in July with the Indiana Four Wheel Drive Association. Mark your calendar for
August 5-7 and join the IFWDA for a great weekend at The Ranch.
Looking ahead we are planning a trip to Indianapolis Sept. 16-18 for the 4x4 Jamboree Nationals at the State Fair Grounds. We attended this event for one day last year and it was awesome. Anything and everything for the 4x4 community can be found at this event! We will be camping there for the weekend. Check out www.familyevents.com for more information.
We are headed to Phoenix next week for the Southern Baptist Convention. We were trying to figure a way to get the jeep out there to drive to the Grand Canyon, but we haven't got that worked out yet!
July 2011

RIDING AREA OF THE MONTH
Each month we want to try and introduce you to a riding area that may be of interest and as schedules allow we hope to ride these areas as a club. For August we focus on Interlake @ Lynnville, In. Interlake is located on SR 68 3.2 miles east of SR61. About a 35 minute drive from Evansville, In. SWI4x4 Him enjoys many rides at Interlake each year and with the variety trails and terrain there is something for everyone at Interlake.
We have included below the description on the Interlake website.
If you have a favorit place you like to wheel please let us know and we will share it in an up coming newsletter!
Interlake State Recreation Area (ISRA), former coal mine land straddling Pike and Warrick Counties, is now open as a multi-use recreational facility. Interlake is approximately 3550 acres of land with three separate eras of mining and reclamation. From steep rugged spoil banks to rolling hilly grasslands, man-made lakes and final cut strip pits, Interlake is a diverse array of topography and scenic views.

Much of Interlake is devoted to motorized OHV and equestrian trail use. Mountain biking is also allowed. Approximately 50 miles of trails can be found within Interlake’s boundaries. Trails range from beginner to experienced, with multiple miles of each skill level. All types of OHVs are allowed, 4x4, ATV, There are no restrooms, water fountains, trash receptacles, or other improvements. Property development is expected to begin by 2010 with improved roads, parking, and restrooms being the first items on the list.
SWAP MEET STUFF If you are like me I have STUFF
sitting around that I have taken off or changed on my jeep and that STUFF
needs to find a new home. Maybe you need something that maybe someone else
has to sell or trade. If you have such items and would
like to take advantage of a Swap meet section please feel free to let us
know. We will create a SWAP MEET page on the website for future use! Be
sure to check it out.
On The Journey…
In Matthew 8:1-3 we read about a leper who heard that Jesus was in town and he came to Him and said…” Lord if You are willing You can make me clean” Notice the faith that this outcast slowed toward Christ. “if you are willing You CAN make me clean” That’s faith, “You CAN..”
As you read this note what do you need Christ to do for you? Physical healing, healing from hurt feelings, bitterness, some addiction, material needs, whatever it may be the same Jesus that healed that leper, can help you today if you let Him.
Notice, also about the leper that he broke all the rules and did not care what others might say about him coming to Jesus. He was an outcast who was not to be near the REGULAR people he has by law supposed to announce himself as “unclean” as he wondered around, but this man, I believe had come to the place where he realized that Christ was his only hope, and he was right!
As you and I are on the journey of our lives, there
will be times that we need the help of the One who still heals and His name is
Jesus and when He is all we have He is all we need!
Please feel free to contact us if we can pray for you or you have questions about knowing more about Christ!

To Know Christ And Make Him Known
In The 4x4 community”
September 2011
Well it is September 1st were has the summer gone? It seems like only yesterday that we were putting the soft top on after a long cold winter! Its been a great year thus far. We have not done as much riding as we would like but what we have done has been great!
We were with the Indiana Four Wheel Drive Association in early August at The Ranch in French Lick, In. My son and I went up the week before and helped clear trails from Spring storm damage. We meet some new friends and got to do some of the trails that we have always wanted to try!
The 2011 Jeep Jamboree will meet at The Ranch in October and as usual it promises to be a great time. As of 9-1-11 there is still room for you if you would like to attend. We will not be attending this year, but may drop in and see some old friends while they are there!
Be sure to check out the Events Page for future dates and events!
Riding Area of The Month
Redbird SRA
In 1943, the Friar Tuck mine opened in Greene County, and until it closed 1952, was reported to have produced 3 million tons of coal. Two years later in 1945, the Redbird Coal Company began mining on the west side of Friar Tuck in Sullivan County. After producing 2 million tons of coal, Redbird closed operations in 1950.
Reclamation efforts at the time consisted of planting some pine trees and moving on. Left behind were acid lakes and extreme hills. In the 1970’s, off-highway, motorized vehicle users found the area to be a perfect place to test machinery and driving skills. As sales of Jeeps and motorcycles increased, so did unregulated activity at the area commonly known as “Redbird.”
In 1972 the Indiana
Department of Natural Resources completed a report on ORV trends and
environmental impacts. Based on recommendations from the report, the
Natural Resources Commission adopted a policy prohibiting ORV/OHV’s on
DNR properties.
After interest in the area resurfaced in 1987,
1990 and 1995, internal meetings at DNR recommended the Division of
Outdoor Recreation assume the responsibility for handling a strategy for
the Redbird site. In December 1996, the division reported to the
Natural Resources Commission to address the issue anew. A first,
although abbreviated, riding season at Redbird begins in 2003, sixty
years after Friar Tuck opened becoming the first state owned off road
park in Indiana.
Today Redbird has flourished into 1200 acres of offroading enjoyment. With trails from mild to wild there is a trail that will fit anyone's skill level. Redbird State Riding Area is owned and managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources
This web site is owned and maintained by the Redbird Foundation a non
for profit group dedicated to helping Redbird grow and prosper.
Redbird is located approx. 90 miles north of Evansville, In in Dugger, In. Check out their website for more information. www.redbirdsra.com
On The Journey
In Numbers 13 we read the story of the 12 spies that were sent to Scope Out the Promise Land that God had promised to the children of Israel. They were commissioned and sent out. They took 40 days to accomplish their task and came back with their report. 10 said "Ain't no way!" They are too big, too many, and we have NO chance at overcoming them!
2 said "Yes way!" We can do it we must do it cause God said to !!!"
The issue was the 10 who said "No way" looked at the situation with human sized eyes and the 2 that said "Yes way" looked at the SAME situation with God sized eyes! Today with the world in turmoil, gas at $4.00 a gallon, families falling apart, wars and such it is easy to see things with human sized eyes, but if we do we will miss out on the God sized blessings that He has for those who trust HIM!
Today what do you need to see through God sized eyes? What situation are you facing today that seems overwhelming? See it through God sized eyes, it ain't as big as it appears....PROMISE!
A whole generation of the children of Israel missed the promised land because they choose to see with human eyes, what a waste, don't waste the blessings of God today, see life with God sized eyes!
